Many instances run the glitch-soc fork of Mastodon that allows toots to be authored using Markdown or HTML formatting.

Tooot renders these toots as plain text.

At a minimum Tooot should support rendering formatted toots, and ideally should allow authoring formatted toots when logged into a glitch-soc server.
